Today begins not the start of the story of Barnett Shoals, GA, I acknowledge. It is merely another chapter in a great volume of work that encompasses vast geologic and historical time scales.
I am utterly humbled by the task of writing this new story. I now know that I will not accomplish this alone. No one has ever worked these lands and plied these waters along the Oconee River alone and without help. It is and has always been a community of labor and ideas.
