Pictured Above: The Community Water Cistern: Millions of drops of rain collected as one into this brick basin, sending vital gravity fed water to the Star Thread Mill Factory. (Ruins Seen in Background). The water travelled downhill in a 6" pipe, providing water to multiple fire hydrants. One of only a few fire suppression systems for mill factories in the Southeastern United States in the early 1900's.
